Rijeka
Rijeka is the largest city in the Bay of Kvarner and has approximately 150,000 inhabitants.
It is a major industrial center but has also a tourist activity. However, Rijeka remains a particularly attractive hub for tourists, including many coves where swimming is possible. Also, the city is dominated by the mountains of Primorsko-Goranska offers many opportunities for hikers. Nearby, the town of Opatija, which has many beaches and numerous luxury hotels.
There is an airport (Rijeka Luka Zračna) located on the island of Krk, about 30 km from downtown.
